I know that a lot of these have been stated before, but hey, what harm could one more listing do?

-Just because you can write a crossover doesn’t mean you should. (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/843106/)
-Rule of thumb: If you insist that your character isn’t a Mary Sue, chances are s/he is.

-The name of the town is Quahog. Not Colhog, Kohog, Koerhåg, or anything else.
-Peter’s wife is named Lois, not Louis or Louise.

-Believe it or not, the Jumi story arc isn’t the only one in the game. Why not write about the Dragon or Faerie arcs, or one of the minor arcs, or even one of the stand-alone events? That would be just as interesting as a Jumi fic, if not more so, if only because it‘s not oversaturated.

-As much as I love HIVE Five fics, the other HIVE students need love too! I’d love to see something about Angel or XL Terrestrial, or about why Private HIVE left the Five between “Mother Mae-Eye” and “Lightspeed,” for example.
-If you write a Season 6 fic and feature any villains from the first five seasons other than Slade, Blackfire, Brother Blood, Red X, or Dr. Light, you should probably have an explanation of how they got unfrozen. Believe me, I thought that the whole “freezing the villains” thing was kind of lame (kind of really lame, in fact), but still, I just feel that an explanation is needed if they’re unfrozen.

Believe it or not, there are some fandoms which appear to be free of Mary Sues, or at least aren't listed as entry tags at marysues. A brief list below:

American Girl
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Katamari Damacy
Monster Rancher
Rocko's Modern Life
Tales of Destiny (the original)

I know that there are others, but these were just the only ones that I could think of. I'm pretty ambivalent about this. I'm glad that not every fandom is tainted with 'Sues, but worried because it might just be that the fandoms haven't noticed them. Any thoughts on this?

...is that they pretty much crushed my will to write fanfiction. I had a few ideas that I thought were pretty good, but on reading the community, I started to doubt my writing talent, knowing that if I put my stuff in public, they'd spork it and accuse me of being talentless- just because most of my ideas involved crossovers, anachronisms/real-world stuff for humor's sake, and/or slightly-OOC portrayals, again for the sake of humor. But, really, my fanfic idol, Fritz Frandorf, did it, and you don't see a bunch of lj people bashing "Guardian Amulet" or "A Final Fantasy Christmas" or "Cid Wars." So, maybe I'm being paranoid, but fanficrants' utterly heartless nature turned me agaisnt it.

NOTE: Purely for humor purposes! )
This is something I've realized about the canon_sues lj community, and a big part of why I left- none of the posters could agree on what was or wasn't a 'Sue, and often accused each other of making "grudge posts." Frankly, I like a lot of characters who some might consider 'Sues, and think that some characters who people don't consider 'Sues are. But, really, with canon characters, it's roughly 72% opinion whether a character is a 'Sue or not. So, that's all I've got to say. TTFN!

Although I wasn't a member for long, and I only made one report, which I've long since deleted, I have recently left canon_sues, due to constant bickering between members about what is or isn't a Mary Sue, not realizing that there are many different breeds of Mary Sue, as can be seen in the two pages below:

So, to everyone at canon_sues, even those who didn't notice my one crappy report, good-bye forever. Perhaps if you had a less narrow definition of "Mary Sue," maybe I would have stayed. But I will continue to lurk, hoping that one day you'll start to acknowledge the wide variety of Mary Sues that exist.
